About The Owner

I’ve always been more comfortable in the field than in the spotlight. My interest in the natural world started early, thanks to my late father, Jim Davis. My father was a very special person who took lots of time with us kids to go out and hunt or ride motorcycles. I was only seven or eight years old when I started frequenting the desert Southwest with him; it was during a Chukar hunt that I found my first California kingsnake. That encounter sparked a lifelong fascination with wildlife that eventually led me to the University of Arizona, where I formalized my passion by studying Herpetology and Wildlife Biology.

From Herpetology to Horticulture

While my academic roots are in the study of reptiles, my professional life is centered on another unique corner of the biological world: Tillandsias. Today, I am the co-owner of Davis Farms Wholesale Tillandsias, a wholesale nursery specializing in air plants.

To me, biology is all about the details—whether it’s the intricate way a Tillandsia is able to survive with no soil or the precise scale patterns of a neonate Corallus batesii. I enjoy the quiet, steady work of running the farm and ensuring our plants meet the highest standards for our wholesale partners.

The "Crown Jewel": Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boas

While the farm keeps me busy, my private focus has remained with the species I consider the crown jewel of the reptile world: the Amazon Basin Emerald Tree Boa (Corallus batesii).

I acquired my first Basin in 2020 and haven't looked back since. My approach to keeping is rooted in my biological background—prioritizing husbandry, health, and the specific micro-climates these tropical animals require. I currently maintain a 5.8 collection and was proud to produce my first two litters in 2025.

I feel lucky to be able to work with Corallus batesii. I am sure if you've landed here and read this you have a shared passion for C. batesii, so I appreciate you stopping by.
